Barbados Day 3

On our first full day in Barbados, we slept in until 8-ish, had a quick breakfast in the restuarant and met our shuttle bus for the Atlantis submarine tour at 9:30.  

While we were sitting at breakfast, cloud burst rain storms kept passing over the beach.  At one point we saw a full rainbow only a 100 yards or so off shore.  We could see it start on the water, arch up high, and then fall back to the water.  The water just glittered and shone where the ends of the rainbow hit it.  And then, as the cloud continued to move away from the beach, we watched the rainbow move farther out to sea with it.  It was incredibly beautiful.  

The submarine tour was fun.  You sit on a center row of seats back to back facing windows on the outside of the sub.  I figured we would go down 30-40 feet to see some of the coral and marine life.  Instead, we dropped straight down 150 feet and slowly worked our way back.  The reef and the fish were beautiful (however, none of the photos really turned out).  I enjoyed it but was ready to be done when it ended.  I have scuba dived twice before in some amazing reef areas.  The views were just as pretty (prettier in Palau) but it was silent and relaxing when diving, while it was cramped and loud in the submarine.  However, it was still very much worth the trip.  We went on it with Eric & Leah Bryan (I recruited Eric to Hormel from BYU) and another couple from the company.  Other couples went on helicopter tours and golfed, while some just hung out at the resort.  

When we got back that afternoon we relaxed around the beach until we had our in-room massage treatments.  For the record, I prefer going to a hotel spa.  In-room is fine, but you have to move all kinds of stuff around and it is a bit cramped.  Oh the sacrifices I had to make on this trip...  :-) My massage was on the balcony of my room, and listening to the waves lap up on the sand while getting a joint & muscle tension releiver masssage was fantastic and nothing to complain about.  

After the massage, we ordered some snacks which didn't get to the room until we had to leave for the IRS-required business meeting and following dinner.  We scarfed down cheese and crackers and an ice cream brownie and then rushed out to door to the meeting.  It rained quite hard on the walk over there, so everybody was dripping wet in their nice "elegant resort wear" clothes.  The dinner restuarant was this amazing open porch area right on the water.  We watched the starts come out and the moon begin to set on the horizon.  Absolutely beautiful.
